Grace

“‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will realize the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and all who are far off-for all whom the Lord our God will call.'” – Acts 2:38-39

We have all done stupid stuff. Had pointless relationships, started petty fights, lied about something. Maybe things that seem worse. I’ve done all of those and I’m only 16. Sin is all around us and it can consume our lives, and we feel there isn’t help out there. We make excuses for our sin and we have the choice to leave it be or do something about it. More often than not, however, we feel we don’t deserve anything but the hole we dug for ourselves.

Never Beyond Repair by Everfound is a song I’ve been listening to recently and its message is beautiful. It spoke straight to my heart. It talks about doing things you never thought you would and feeling like your life is falling apart. It talks about not being fixable. And it also talks about how you aren’t alone, and that nothing is too bad that you can’t be helped.

My favorite part is when it says, “grace meets you anywhere.” It’s so true. We don’t have to be perfect to come to God, He will forgive us when we are in the lowest valley. His love doesn’t start when we are good people and doing okay, it starts before we were even born. And it never ends, even through the terrible stuff we do. Forgiveness is something you can get even when everything is slowly falling out of place, and when you want to give up on everything. It’s a free gift God gives no matter what position you were ever in because of His eternal love for us.

The worst thing I ever did was doubt God. I doubted that He could actually forgive me for the stuff that I did. I didn’t believe He would want to. Why would you forgive someone who ignored you for months? Someone who disobeyed and made excuses? It was a crazy thought that He would. Unexplainable. But that is who God is: unexplainable. He loves us through it all, and He will forgive it all. He will meet you in the dark and bring you back to the light.

He said you were worth dying for on a cross. Your salvation and forgiveness was worth it. We don’t deserve it, but Jesus loves us and says we do no matter what. Accept His free gift of grace.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith- and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast.” – Ephesians 2: 8-9
